ELA (Grammar/Writing/Literature/Poetry
- · Grammar/Writing: This week scholars will be introduced to the different types of sentences. In writing, the scholars will look at fables and discuss the moral lessons.
- · Literature: This week in Literature we will begin our first Classic of the year, Prince Caspian! Please ensure that your scholar has a copy of the classic as we do make annotations in the book.
- · Poetry: We will be practicing “The Violet.” We will begin reciting the poem on 9/2/2022. Each day in class we are going to analyze one stanza and have the scholar’s practice reciting the poems as well as look at the structure, rhythm, rhyme, of the poem.
History: This week scholars will focus on identifying geographic tools
that are essential to map reading as well as interpreting maps and explore
mountains.
Science: This week scholars will be learning about different types of
energy. The scholars will also be able to demonstrate and view two
experiments this week on changes in energy with a flashlight as well as energy
motion with marbles.
Math: This week, scholars will be discovering rules in number
patterns and rounding to the ten thousands place. Scholars will have a quiz
on 8/16 on place value.
Highlights: The start of the school year has been a success. The 4th grade scholars have displayed the Spartan spirit through friendship and good citizenship, especially for our new Great Hearts scholars.
